Atopic dermatitis, also called eczema, is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that is most common in children but can often last through adulthood. It is estimated to affect 2-3% of adults. Eczema usually presents as patches of dry, itchy skin. These patches of skin, also called lesions, may also be red, rough, and/or thickened. In severe cases the skin may crack and bleed.
DermResearch is enrolling a study testing the safety and efficacy of an investigational topical probiotic treatment for atopic dermatitis. Qualified participants will attend up to 8 in-clinic visits and apply the investigational medication and placebo once a day for 28 days. Total length of participation is up to 56 days.
To qualify, you must be 12 to 65 years old and have atopic dermatitis. You may have patches of eczema
anywhere and have it on both the left and right side of your body. You should be otherwise in good
general health.
There is no cost to participate, and insurance is not required. Qualified participants will be under the
care of a board-certified dermatologist and receive up to $1405 compensation for time and travel.
